Professor Sutiman Bambang Sumitro is a Professor in Cell Biology at the Department of Biology, Brawijaya University. He earned his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in Cell Biology from Nagoya University, Japan, in 1989 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Medicine, Mie University, Japan, in 1993.
His major fields of expertise are Cell Biology, Nano Biology, Molecular Biology, and Microscopy. He is a prolific inventor with numerous patents and copyrights in fields ranging from immunocontraception and diagnostic kits to a 2023 patent for a "Composition of liquid to improve quality of life".
Professor Sumitro has held significant leadership positions in academia, including Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Brawijaya University (1994-2000) and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Maulana Malik Ibrahim Islamic State University (2009-2013).
His international engagement includes serving on the International Advisory Board for the Asia Pacific Organization on Cell Biology (APOCB), and he has served as the Head of the Advisory Committee for the Indonesian Reproductive Technology Association (PATRI).
