Dr. Ni Made Eka Mahadewi is an Associate Professor at Bali Tourism Polytechnic who has worked in the tourism field since 1990. She holds a PhD in Tourism Planning and Development, a Master's in Tourism Studies, a Bachelor's in Tourism Business, and a Diploma in Tourism Management. Her research interests include Tourism Destination Management, Event and MICE Management, and Consumer Behaviour in Tourism.
She is a published author with books released both nationally and internationally, including ‘Ergonomic Destination, A Quality Tourism Identity’ available on Amazon.com. She has also written books on the MICE industry and research methodology, as well as numerous book chapters and articles on topics ranging from Ecotourism and Smart Tourism to Risk Management.
Prior to her academic career, Dr. Mahadewi gained extensive industry experience working in the national airline industry, retail and wholesale travel agencies, hotels, and tourism resorts. She has also served as a tour leader, consultant, and has been actively involved in key tourism associations such as PHRI (Hotel and Restaurant Association), PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association), and the Badung Tourism Promotion Board.
Within academia, she has held significant leadership roles including Acting Director and Deputy Director for Academic Affairs for Bali Tourism Institute, and Head of Research Centre and Head of Quality Assurance for Bali Tourism Polytechnic. She believes her career journey "flows like water" and that vocational lecturers must learn from direct experience in the tourism, travel, and hospitality industries.
