Arif Rahman

Originally from West Java and raised in a traditional family, Chef Arif developed a deep understanding of natural healing from an early age, learning how to use herbs and spices to care for his family. His lifelong passion for natural remedies and plant-based living has led him to become one of Ubud’s most respected figures in herbal medicine and organic healing.

Known for his innovative raw food creations and engaging cooking classes, Chef Arif has earned widespread recognition within Bali’s wellness and culinary communities. He is a regular presenter on the main stage at the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival and the Ubud Food Festival, where his knowledge of jamu — Indonesia’s traditional herbal elixirs — continues to captivate audiences.

Currently, Chef Arif is developing a medicinal herbal garden called "Sudhamala" in the lush highlands of Baturiti, Bedugul, aiming to preserve and share the wisdom of Indonesian healing plants with a wider audience.

"Chef Arif is so extremely knowledgeable about Jamu! Wow!" – Janet DeNeefe, Founder & Director of the Ubud Food Festival
