Bali, June 27, 2025 — Indonesia's Vice Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Ni Luh Puspa, highlighted wellness as a vital component in the future of tourism—not just a fleeting trend. She delivered this message during the opening ceremony of the Bali Wellness and Beauty Expo (BWB Expo) 2025, held at the Bali Beach Convention Center within “The Meru” Health Special Economic Zone in Sanur, Bali.

“Travelers today are looking for more than entertainment or beautiful views. They're seeking experiences that restore both body and mind. Wellness is the future of tourism—and Bali has the unique potential to become a global wellness hub,” she stated.

The expo marks a significant step in Bali's efforts to expand its identity as a premier wellness destination, rooted in eight key pillars: Personal Care & Beauty; Healthy Eating, Nutrition & Weight Loss; Physical Activity; Wellness Tourism including Spas and Thermal/Mineral Springs; Public Health, Prevention & Personalized Medicine; Traditional & Complementary Medicine; Wellness Real Estate & Workplace Wellness; and Mental Wellness. The government fully supports initiatives like BWB Expo, which go beyond beauty to promote holistic well-being and sustainability.

Theme: “Grow-well in Bali”

Co-Founder and Director of BWB Expo 2025, Mrs. Diah Permana Tirtawati, explained that this year’s theme — “Grow-well in Bali: Where Wellness Becomes Beauty” — underscores the belief that true beauty comes from balanced health and mindful living.

Over the three-day event, attendees will enjoy a diverse program including expert-led health and beauty talks, sunrise yoga, guided meditation, workshops, a clean beauty marketplace, as well as fashion and makeup competitions. The expo also features business matching and networking sessions that bring together local and international industry stakeholders.

“Our goal is to build a wellness ecosystem that is both collaborative and inclusive. This is not just for major industry players, but also for local SMEs, creative communities, and Bali’s younger generation who want to engage in this sector,” said Diah.

Wellness as a Driver of Sustainable Growth

Beyond promotion and education, BWB Expo 2025 aims to foster sustainable economic development through the wellness industry. As the global demand for healthy and eco-conscious lifestyles continues to grow, Bali is well-positioned to strengthen its standing through wellness and medical tourism—especially with the launch of the Health Special Economic Zone and Bali International Hospital (BIH).

“We want Bali to be recognized not just for its natural beauty, but also for its commitment to health. Wellness should not be viewed as a luxury—it’s a necessity for everyone. Bali has the potential to lead this movement,” added the Vice Minister.
